Why Plant Medicine and Medicinal Trees Matter?
Medicinal trees and plant healing are vast topics. Today, I want to focus on why humans should reconnect with plant medicine and how trees can support our physical, emotional, and soul health.
There is one particular tree healing energy I want to share about — one that can support energetically sensitive people, as well as individuals dealing with chronic illness, emotional trauma, or soul-level challenges.
Before we begin, I would like to dedicate this post to two members of my soul family — Billy and Musk. Both of them loved trees and plants deeply, and I hope they are watching from the spirit world.
Our Forgotten Relationship With Trees
Why Do Humans Feel Drawn to Trees?
Have you ever looked at a tree and wondered:
What does this tree think of me?
Should I go speak to this tree?
Do trees feel things the way humans do?
Many people secretly feel drawn to trees. Even if they never say it out loud, there is often a quiet curiosity about the energy of trees and plants.
Sometimes when people walk past a tree, they feel as if the tree is saying hello. Surprisingly, that feeling may not be imagination at all.
Trees and plants are not just part of nature. Many spiritually aware people now recognise them as sources of energy, healing, companionship, and guidance.
Trees can offer:
Energy
Emotional comfort
Healing support
Friendship
Guidance during difficult times
Yet many humans rarely acknowledge this relationship.
Why Is Tree Healing Different From Traditional Plant Medicine?
When we talk about plant medicine, many people immediately think of:
Ayurveda
Herbal medicine
Natural remedies
While these systems do use plants, tree healing goes beyond physical herbs.
Tree healing focuses on the energetic medicine of plants and trees.
This energy can support:
Physical healing
Emotional healing
Inner child healing
Mental health balance
Soul and energetic wellbeing
For example, many people spend years trying to heal their inner child through therapy or coaching. While these methods can help, the healing that comes from trees and plants can feel very different.
Trees offer a type of healing rooted in deep, unconditional friendship.
Most people do not think of trees as their first source of help.
If we get hurt or feel unwell, we usually think of:
Doctors
Medicines
Therapists
Rarely do we think:
"Maybe a tree could help me heal."
However, scientific research has shown that thousands of plants have medicinal properties. In fact, studies mention over 5,000 plant species with medicinal value.
Despite this, very few people actively include trees and plants in their healing journey.
Many admire trees from a distance but still treat them as decorative parts of nature rather than allies for healing.
The Healing Energy of the Celtic Alder Tree
One tree that carries powerful healing energy is the Celtic Alder tree.
This tree is commonly found in Ireland and parts of the United Kingdom.
Historically, soldiers used the bark and roots of the Alder tree to make protective shields. When the wood is cut, it releases a red sap and does not rot easily. Because of its durability and resistance, it became a symbol of strength and protection.
Energetically, the Celtic Alder tree carries similar protective qualities.
Can Trees Become Spiritual Guides?
Just like humans can guide others when they are lost, trees can also act as energetic guides.
If you are facing a challenge, a tree’s energy may help guide you toward healing or clarity.
I personally connected with the healing energy of the Celtic Alder tree through Reiki, which allowed me to connect with my tree guide named Juniper.
For some people, this idea may sound unusual. However, many energetically sensitive individuals experience subtle guidance from nature.
For example:
You may suddenly receive a solution to a problem while sitting near plants.
You may feel calmer when touching a tree.
You may feel emotionally supported in nature.
These experiences often indicate energetic communication with plant life.
How Does Celtic Alder Tree Healing Support Trauma Recovery?
The Celtic Alder tree is especially impactful for people who have experienced deep trauma or emotional wounds.
Its energy is strongly protective and can help with:
Emotional trauma
Inner child wounds
Physical stress in the body
Mental health struggles
Energetic protection
Soul-level healing
People who resonate with Alder energy are often truthful, action-oriented, and emotionally intense individuals who may have suffered because of their authenticity.
Through my work with Juniper, I experienced healing for wounds that had resisted traditional healing methods.
These included trauma related to:
Bullying
Abuse
Financial stress
Social rejection
Mental health struggles
Why Do Trees Sometimes Heal What Humans Cannot?
Human support is important, and we do need it.
However, trees and plants offer a kind of healing that humans sometimes cannot.
Trees do not have the emotional limitations humans have. They do not say:
"I'm too tired today."
"I don't feel like helping."
"I'm in a bad mood."
Trees offer consistent presence, compassion, and energetic support.
When people begin working with tree healing, they often notice something surprising:
They become more emotionally independent.
Instead of constantly seeking external support, they start feeling grounded and self-sufficient.
Trees help people understand that many emotional dependencies are actually rooted in fear rather than love.
Simple Ways to Experience Tree Healing
If you are curious about tree healing, you can begin with a simple practice.
Try this:
Find a tree or plant nearby.
Touch it gently or stand close to it.
Notice how your body feels.
Observe your emotions.
Ask yourself:
Do I feel calmer?
Do I feel supported?
Does my inner child feel comforted?
Do I feel energy shifting in my body?
Many people are surprised by how deeply comforting these experiences can be.
